How can I fix my laptop keyboard and mouse to make them work again?

My laptop froze once I pluged my new phone into the USB port, and since then no matter how many times I restart my laptop the keyboard, mouse pad and USB ports don't work at all. Therefore I can't use a USB mouse or keyboard. Plus when I start the computer

unplug power supply remove battery and hold the power button down for 30 seconds then put battery back and plug in ? hope this helps
