windows audio won't start, how can i fix it (i've tried re-installing sound card drivers) ?

it says everything is working fine & that hardware is installed :S when i go to services it and try and start it it says windows cannot start it. The icon doesn't have a question mark it has a red 'x' on it ?

If you know when the sound stopped working, you could use system restore in xp to restore the pc back before it stopped working.If that doesnt work,you can open my computer,view system information,hardware, device manager.scrool down to the sound and
