can i use a tv tuner card for my computer if DIsh network is my television provider?

i am not sure what it is that i watch while watching television provided by dish network, can i call it cable tv even though it is provided by satellite?

but any ways, the tv tuner cards i have seen for computers all say you must have "cable

what you can probably do is have a cable going from your Dish-box to your tv tuner card's input. but, you will have to use your Dish-box to change channels, ya know? you won't be able to change channels on your computer or record specific programs.
